Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and the world, all businesses in the estate were closed by their respective entrepreneurs. During this time, since there were migrant workers living in the units of the estate, the Association distributed grocery kits to these workers to ensure they did not face difficulties in obtaining essential items. Additionally, the Association arranged two meals a day for these workers.
During the challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic, the Association, in collaboration with Prathama Blood Bank and Lions Club of Ognaj, organized successful blood donation programs by modifying the blood donation process considering the COVID-19 situation. Mobile blood donation vans were sent to units with 10-15 donors, and all precautions were taken to ensure their sanitization and prevent the spread of COVID-19. During this period, the Association collected blood from over 1,500 voluntary donors.
With the cooperation of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Vatva Industries Association established a COVID Care Isolation Center at CPET Hostel Plot No. 630, Phase-4, in the Vatva GIDC estate. The primary purpose of this center was to accommodate workers from the eastern part of Ahmedabad who did not have the facilities to isolate at home. All patients at this center were provided with free lunch and dinner, as well as tea and snacks twice a day. Additionally, primary medicines were supplied at the center.
Starting from April 1, 2021, Vatva Industries Association, in collaboration with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, initiated a COVID-19 vaccination drive. Vaccination centers were established at Vatva Industries Association office and Vatva Industries Association Charitable Trust's Phase-1 hospital. Additionally, vaccination programs were conducted at units within the estate with more than 100 employees. Through this initiative, the Association, with the support of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, vaccinated over 5,000 individuals.
During the challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic, when hospitals and quarantined patients faced a shortage of oxygen, the Association arranged approximately 500 oxygen cylinders under the supervision of the honorable Collector of Ahmedabad district. These cylinders were allocated to hospitals under the oversight of a team of officials.
